Its porous composition allows excellent air circulation and rapid drainage of excess water, preventing waterlogging and promoting healthy root development. Additionally, it does not degrade over time, maintaining a loose and well-aerated soil structure.
It can be used pure for species requiring extreme drainage or mixed with other substrates such as coconut fiber, akadama, or perlite to adjust moisture retention according to the plant’s needs. It is especially recommended for mediterranean species and conifers, which benefit from well-drained soils to avoid root problems.
