Originating from Asia, Jasminum nudiflorum is highly valued in bonsai for its flexible growth, graceful branching and striking winter flowering. The green, arching branches create a light and dynamic silhouette, while the absence of leaves during bloom enhances its strong seasonal and graphic character.
Sunlight: Prefers full sun to partial shade. Good light exposure promotes abundant flowering.
Watering: Requires regular watering, keeping the substrate slightly moist. Avoid letting it dry out completely, especially during active growth.
Humidity: Well adapted to normal outdoor environments. Misting is optional.
Pruning: Prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new branching. Responds well to moderate pruning.
Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer after flowering and throughout spring and summer. Suspend feeding during the flowering period.
Repotting: Every 2–3 years, in spring, using a well-draining substrate.
Flowering and Fruiting: Produces bright yellow flowers in winter and early spring, before leaf emergence, offering strong visual impact during an uncommon season.
