Composed of hard, stable particles, it retains water and nutrients, releasing them gradually to the bonsai’s roots. Its porous structure ensures excellent drainage and air circulation, promoting a well-aerated growing medium and the healthy development of fine roots.
With a neutral pH and high cation exchange capacity (CEC), Akadama improves overall plant health by enhancing nutrient absorption and plant vitality. It can be used on its own or mixed with other substrates, and is especially recommended for small to medium-sized pots.
